Q.  All I see is red x's scrolling down the page?

A.  In order for the stationery to work right, the files have to be extracted to C :\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery and not in any sub folders.

Still not working, also try:  Go to Tools,  Options.  Now click: Send Tab, then Mail Sending Format: HTML Setting, then  make sure the "Send with Pictures" box is checked

A.  Go to the taskbar in the right hand corner, next to the clock and right click on the speaker icon and make sure the sound wasn't muted.  If that didn't work, go to Multimedia in the Control Panel, click on the button under where it says Playback.  Then you will see if the volume is turned up on everything and that nothing is muted. (thank you Susie)

Q.  Do I have to have the e-mail button in my stationery?

A.  No, you can either put your own e-mail address or web page in it by following the instructions here, or you can left click on it once and delete it.  It won't hurt the script.

Q.  What is the difference in the 3 formats you offer?

A.  Exe format is the easiest to download because it self extracts into your stationery folder

Zip format you need to have a program like winzip to download it and you have to extract it to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery

Eml is one of our favorites, because you can save it and use it anywhere.  Even rename it, but you will need winzip in order to download it from the web.

Q.  My eml icons are not working anymore and have changed to something else?

A.    I downloaded a different mail program called The Bat and/or Incredimail.  I didn't like it and uninstalled it.  Unfortunately, it had written into my registry as the default for opening .eml files.  I followed the below instructions, as regards the registry first, then, set the program to open with the correct path:  "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe"
Click Start, and click Run. Type regedit and click OK.  (Thank you LeAnne)

Find the following registry keys:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.eml

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\.eml

Highlight the .eml in the left window, click Edit and click Delete to delete
the two .eml entries.

Double-click the two attached files in this email to see the results. (Write us for the files) (Thank you Microsoft)

Q.  How do I delete my old stationery out?

A.  You will need to go to:  c, program files, common files, microsoft shared, stationery in your windows explorer.  Then just find all the files with the same name as the ones you want to delete and delete them out.  There will be several files like html, jpg, mid, ect.  Sometimes less, sometimes more.  If you are using the eml format, you will only have one file to delete.

Q.  When I click on a link to go to a web site, I get a funny message with terms like DNS Error, Error 404 Not Found, or Server Busy.

A.  These are messages telling you the status of the site you are trying to visit. Any time you get a Server Busy or Try again later message, handle it like a busy signal on your phone and just try again later. Most likely, that site is simply experiencing heavy traffic. It’s still there; you just can’t get to it. Depending upon the site, you may be able to get through after a minute, or not for several hours.

If you get DNS error or Error 404 messages, these are more serious. This means the site you’re looking for is not where the link says it is. DNS errors mean that the site you’re looking for couldn’t be found. It could just be that the server, or computer, that hosts the site you are looking for is temporarily off or under repair. Be sure to check again later to see if this is the case.

An Error 404 message essentially means that the server that is supposed to have the site you’re looking for doesn’t have it, or at least can’t find it based on the address of the link you clicked on. The site was there once, but has been taken down or removed, probably for good. If you happen to find one of these there is not much you can do, but we’d appreciate you taking the time to let us know so we can take it out of our directory. It’s hard work keeping up with all those sites!

A.  No, all our stationery is 99.9% virus free!  We take the highest precautions, so you will never have to worry.  We have 3 computers we test our stationery on, plus have beta testers.  We always virus scan all our files before we upload them to the web or send them out on our lists.  Here are some anti-virus programs that we encourage you to use for a safer internet experience. Also, for a free virus program, click here

Q.  I can no longer download exe files, it says plugin initialized?

A.  There are two solutions, uninstall QuickTime and download the latest version, being very careful to
select only the QuickTime Player application and not allowing it to install
other program or become associated with anything other than QuickTime files
(it will want to associate itself with MP3 and MIDI files among other
things). The other solution is to right click the download link (on the
download page itself) and select "Save Target As" and download the
stationery file to your desktop and install it by double-clicking it.

Q.  How can I send the stationery with no sound?

A.  You can open the stationery and then go to:  Format, Background, Sound and
where it says file, just delete it and click Ok and it will be gone but you
have to do it each time.

Or

Go to the default directory  (C:\program files\common files\microsoft
shared\stationery and/or shtreasure) where the stationery extracts to and
just delete all files with the ending (extension) ".mid"   Now, when you go
to send a stationery, you will get a notice "one or more pictures cannot be
found."  Choose to send anyway. It is only looking for the mid file (the
script does not understand the difference between a picture and a sound
file). The recipient will receive the stationery fine, without the music,
and no error messages.   If you are using plain Outlook, the sound does not
work anyway, so you would not need to do this. Sound only works in Outlook
Express.

Q.  When I send stationery, it looks great but my recipients say it is coming in 3 parts or just has lots garbled letters?

A.  In your Outlook express, go to:  Tools, Accounts, Mail, highlight your e-mail address you use for stationery, then click on properties, Advanced, and make sure you have Break apart messages larger than _____ unchecked.
